Federal Taxation

Posted on Nov 4th, 2007 by Jane : Hiya World! Here come's Jane! Jane
Whoopie!!! The book I brought from Powells.com has arrived over the weekend! I cracked open and scan the book.  Yup, I'm finally starting my self-studying for CPA this weekend!

Yuppie! I'm thrilled! A co-worker saw me with the book, and was surprised that I'm reading the book, and commenting that I will be one smart person afterwards. I told him, I've been interest in Taxation, since two years ago, that I have start working on other pplx federal income taxes and feel I have a neck for that sort of things.

But this weekend is the first time, I have actually get a textbook on federal taxation to study. I know this is my first step to self-studying. I'm sure there are other methods, but this is the cheapest and most effective ways for to learn. Without binding myself to a traditional classroom.

Yes, there will be difficulties when question arrises, but I think I'm savvy enough with the internet. I am sure I can find the answer if I need to find when question arrises.

Yup, I have started a step toward my goal!

Wish me luck!

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 04, 2007:

There are tons of things I can do to replace watching tv! I have already done that since I joined in the service. I haven't have a tv connection for about 8 years now. But to answer the question, I woud say, I would picked up a new hobby, or sports.

I would enjoy every moments in my life for the last 24 hour before I lose my sight because the next morning, I will begin a whole new experiences and a new journey on relying on the other 4 senses to carry my daily routines!  It'll be a trip!!!

What's the most important thing that happened to you this month?

Posted on Nov 4th, 2007 by Jane : Hiya World! Here come's Jane! Jane
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 31, 2007:

Give me an affirmation on what I want out of my life. I would say this month has giving me something that I wouldn't even think about. I was anguish when it happen, but as time past, I see past it. And realized that this could be the best thing ever happening to me. I would say it opened my eyes to things, I were blind to it from the beginning. This thing happening at the right moment, and enlighted me to see where I am and what I want to do with my life. So, in a sense I am glad it happen the way it did.

And for month of November, I am hoping I will stay firmed in my mind of what I needed to do for my goals in life. Its a testing period, but I feel I can overcome and embrace the changes that is coming to me to be a stronger individual!

Minimum wages

Posted on Nov 11th, 2007 by Jane : Hiya World! Here come's Jane! Jane
Surfing online and come across the Department of Labor founds that out of the 50 states only two state has passed the $8.00 for its minimum wage -- California and Massachusette beginning in year 2008.  Rest of the 50 states' minimum wages ranges anywheres from $5.85 ~ $7.85; 5 states doesn't even have a state minimum wages; and four states had lower minimum wages from $2.65 & $5.15!! Geesh You wonder how those states made their living?~!!

Then I made some comparsion on the states' unemployment benefits. It varies from states to states. Some states give unemployment benefit payment by the last wages you received and extracted a percentage based on that. California has a standard that is set there from the minimum of $40 to the maximum payment of $450/week depending if you received wages prior being unemployed with income of $11k.

To find more about it, go to http://www.dol.gov

Are you a risk-taker?

Posted on Nov 11th, 2007 by Jane : Hiya World! Here come's Jane! Jane
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 10, 2007:

YES!!! But some folks would differ me on this.

I'm a risk taker when it comes with the stock market. I have been a participater in it for the last 3 yrs, I do say so myself I do well in it. Although I wouldn't recommend my tactics to others. Since most pplx who I talked to thinks my tactics is a bit erratic or riskier. Its how I lived my life.

But when it comes to work, I become more cautious. There is lot of factor coming into play into my work. So I would rather be cautious and even more cautious when telling the junior sailors about things in considering their finances attributes. I would not want to lead them astray in their finances. I would usually do indepth research on any topics  before I give out any advices to my juniors sailors.  I want to make sure those financial advices I give them will help them rather then cripple them in their own finances.

What would you do with all those unused televisions?

Posted on Nov 11th, 2007 by Jane : Hiya World! Here come's Jane! Jane
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for November 05, 2007:

When you say everyone...Do you mean everyone in the US? or in the World?
If the question is referring to the US, I would say I would take these unused television and used it to put it in classrooms across the states so that kids can used it for educational purposes. Or given to senior homes that is lacking the funding for TV sets. Or donated to various organization that they can sells off these TV set for any sort of funding for these organizations.  Or given to people with visual disability. With these unused TV sets they can see things in a bigger font for their type of disablities.  Or even given to some Arts school for them to generated a new form of artwork.  Or scrap them down and make them into another form of usual new toys or something in that affect.

Recycle these unused TV sets and made some benefits out of it. That would be my take in this question. =D
